It's not an optical illusion, this cannon actually melted crooked. The cannon is at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

BU Shop

In the Bravo Company Shop area the sound of nails hammered and wood cut is everpresent. The noise emiting from this area is the Carpenter Shop and it is there that the woodworking required for Camp Moscrip takes place.

The Carpenters Shop is headed by BU Saunders who supervises the quality of the work turned out. The supervision of quality is not as difficult as it could be due to the highly qualified personnel working for BU2 Saunders. BU3 McAfee is the assistant shop supervisor who, along with BUCN Atchison, BUCN Burks, CN Smith, provides the carpenter shop with ample experience and expertise.

Some of their more recent projects have been the placement of Department location signs in the quandrangle and the building of cruise boxes. An efficient Carpenter Shop is vital to the maintenance and upkeep of a camp compound. It is fortunate for NMCB 133 and Camp Moscrip that the Kangroo Carpenters Shop is just such an effective machine.

SW Shop

If you need any welding done you can always stop by the Steel Workers (SW) Shop where SW3 Bailey or SW3 Dexter will be glad to put it together. Along with SWCA Hardin and SWCA Lange these are the men of steel that work in the Steel Workers Shop. They are responsible for all the steel work required for the Camp Moscrip compound.

Some of their accomplishments have been the fabrication and installation of protective shields around motors in both the laundry and the boiler room. The SW Shop is working on plans to install screens around the lower perimeter of all huts in the hopes of keeping out stray animals. The most noticeable effort so far produced by the Steel Workers of Bravo Company Shops has been the installing of an anchor chain fence around Camp Moscrips frontal perimeter as well as around its Quarterdeck.

The function of a Steel Worker is a solid one for it is an SW responsibility to solidify and keep it together, in doing this, Bravo Company SW’s do a job weld done.

Happy Birthday Kangroo’s

Page 22 -- On 12 August 1966 United States Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE THIRTY THREE was recommissioned at the Construction Battalion Center (CBC), Gulfport, Mississippi. The Kangroo Battalion embarked in February of 1967 on a tour to Da Nang, Vietnam. Phu Bai, Vietnam was the deployment site in 1968. ONE THIRTY THREE again found itself deploying to Vietnam in 1969 to Camp Wilkerson. The 1970 deployment sent NMCB 133 to the island of Guam. After Guam, the Battalion deployed to Okinawa. In 1973 the main body was assigned to Rota, Spain. The assignment in 1974 was made once again to Okinawa, at Camp Shields. Presently NMCB 133’s is located at Camp Moscrip, Puerto Rico. For the future it looks like the next deployment may very well be to Diego Garcia. No matter, for whether NMCB 133 is on Hawaii, Iwo Jima or Okinawa, everything that is accomplished becomes but another chronicle in the tradition of the Kangroo Battalion… Happy Birthday Can Do Kangroo!

He was on board for the recommissioning of MCB 133 on August 12, 1966 in Gulfport and served with this Seabee battalion during its first two tours in Vietnam. He has some WWII history, lots of Vietnam history. Look at and sign his guestbook and let other 'Bees know you stopped by.
